Stoy Hayes, age 96, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (February 17, 2017) at his home in Leitchfield.
He was born on June 13, 1920 in Shrewsbury, KY, the son of the late Oliver and Eva Jane Duvall Hayes.
He was a livestock dealer and farmer, who enjoyed trading, making harnesses and doing saddle repairs. He attended Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children, Ailene Street, Eugene Hayes (Ellen), and Marcella Carrington (Doug), all of Leitchfield; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Hayes (Allene) of Sadler, and Harlan Hayes of Big Clifty; and sister, Edna McClure of Leitchfield.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Hayes, sons, Edgar and Elwood Hayes, grandson, Pete Hayes; brothers, Charlie, and Herman Hayes, and sisters, Gladys Wilkins, Anna Pearl, and Nancy June Hayes.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, (February 20, 2017) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Cecil Williams will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. Monday until time of services.
