Ret. Msgt. Sylvester Hardin, of Ekron, KY, passed away Sunday, (July 26, 2009) at his residence.
He was born in Poplar Bluff, MO, the son of Joe Taylor and Opal May Temberman Hardin. He was a retired US Army master sergeant and a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.
He is survived by four daughters, Nadine White (Benji) and Nicole Neal (Troy) both of North Carolina, Susan Anderson (Tom) of Ekron, KY and Robin Lacefield (Seth) of Guston, KY, four sons, Garry (Brenda) of Elizabethtown, KY, Floyd (Linda) and Tommy (Peggy) both of Kansas and Wade (Joannie) Hardin of Louisville, KY, two sisters, Lila Embry and Linda Mudd both of Caneyville, KY, one brother, Preston Hardin of Louisville KY, twenty-five grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Nadine and Virginia May Hardin, four brothers, Earl, James, Eugene and Little Joe Hardin.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday (July 30, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with cremation to follow.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
