Thomas C. Young, age 74, of Caneyville KY, passed away Monday, (May 4, 2009) at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

He was born on August 30, 1934, in Grayson County, KY, the son of Pearl and Mary Litsey Young. He was a Korean War Veteran, a retired Caneyville postmaster, a member of the Caneyville Masonic Lodge # 127, a member and past president of the Postmasters Association and a member of the Caneyville Christian Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Tori McClanahan (Jim) of Winchester, KY, a close companion of 35 years, Martha Jane Shaw and her sons, Terry, Kevin, Bob and Todd Shaw, two sisters, Peggy Majors and Janice Minton both of Caneyville, three grandchildren, Shae Sermon, Jay and Savannah Shaw and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Lanette Young and one sister and brother, Joyce Gritton and William Winston Young.

Funeral services will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. (May 8, 2009) at the Caneyville Christian Church in Caneyville under the direction of the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro. David Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Caneyville Christian Church in Caneyville from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
