Obituary

Thurman Ray Stone, age 79, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Leitchfield, passed away Wednesday, (January 10, 2024) at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

He was born on May 28, 1944, in Leitchfield, KY, son of the late Lessie and Lorene Wilson Stone.

Thurman enjoyed farming, gardening, Kentucky basketball and coaching girls' softball. A self-taught musician, he loved playing the keyboard and thoroughly enjoyed music. He was an avid animal lover and adored his dogs. Thurman worked in the automobile business for more than fifty years and was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He was a member of the Highview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy Embry Stone of Louisville, formerly of Caneyville; one son, Toby Ray Stone of Louisville; two daughters, Tammy Elaine Bergamini (David) of Bowling Green and Andrea Renee Stone of Louisville; six wonderful grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Sarah, Leah, Susannah and Elijah; two sisters, Mary Lois Summers (Larry) of South Carolina and Emma Doris Madden of Alabama. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Lee Stone.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. CST Saturday, (January 13, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Billy Compton will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonesview Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. CST on Saturday until time of services.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of Donations to the Stonesview Cemetery Fund.
