Truman Newton, age 79, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, (November 1, 2023) at his residence.

He was born on August 1, 1944 in Clarkson, KY, the son of the late W.A. (Shorty) and Goldie Ashley Newton.

He was a retired construction worker and later worked at the Grayson County Detention Center for 10 years. He loved to hunt, do yard work and garden. His family and grandchildren were very special to him. He was married to his wife, Vickie Kennison for 47 years. He attended Unity Pentecostal Church in Leitchfield.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Newton of Caneyville; two daughters, Melissa Newton of Jeffersonville and Kathy Newton of Caneyville; grandchildren, Lilly Grace, Maya, Guillaume, and Peyton Hack; one brother, Clifford Newton (Joyce) of Elizabethtown, KY; nieces and nephews, Christa Kennison, Will Jones, Teresa Clemons, Mandy and Marcus Newton and Robbie and James Newton; brother-in-law, Jerry Kennison and sisters-in-law, Stella Newton, Glenda Johnson, and Amy Jones.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Farley, and Alton Newton; and his sister, Lilly Mae Newton.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, (November 9, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Billy Laslie will be officiating. Burial will be in the Claggett Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.
