Velma Rhea Kirchner, age 72, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Friday, (January 7, 2022) at her home.

She was born on August 16, 1949 in Leitchfield, the daughter of the late Johnny and Marie Cockriel Mercer.

She was a housewife and a homemaker who enjoyed bingo, her booths at the Peddler's Mall, and spending time with her family. She attended New Freedom  Church.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin Kirchner of Leitchfield; three sons, Farrell Kerr (Leesa) of Caneyville, KY, Mickel Kerr (Amanda) of Georgetown, KY, Jonathan Scott Kerr of Leitchfield; a daughter, Rhonda Sherrard (Toby) also of Leitchfield; six grandchildren, Morgan Davis (Morgan), Jordan Sherrard (Heather), Caimen & Cameron Sherrard, and Brooklyn & Cadence Kerr; three great grandchildren, Reid, Rhett & Addison; one brother, Roger Mercer; one sister, Brenda Adams; and her best friend, Donna Cockriel. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Gail Kerr; two brothers, Ray & Randall Mercer; and a sister, Hazel Hill.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (January 15, 2022) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Buddy Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
