Veneda S. McDonald 93 of Anderson Indiana passed away January 10, 2010 at Community Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1916 at Caneyville, Kentucky. She graduated from Caneyville High School and Sherwood School of Music.

She retired as A CNA and caregiver in 1996, taught piano and Organ for 55 years, was past president of National Music Teacher's Association, and was member of New Horizons United Methodist Church.

Survivors include sons Dr. William S. McDonald of Moore Oklahoma and Michael (Patricia I.) McDonald of Anderson, IN; Grandchildren William S. (Kathy) McDonald Jr., Enid, Oklahoma, Rev. Robert (Shari) McDonald, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Stephanie, Gretchen. Cayla, and Jericca McDonald, Anderson, IN. Brandy (Scott) Draughn, Indiana, Rev. Benjamin (Amanda) Capshaw,Michigan, Bridget (David) Cave, Indiana; Brothers Kenneth (Judy) Smith, California, O. T. Smith, Prospect, KY, George (Dixie) and Paul (Marie) Smith, Owensboro, KY and Joe T. (Jane) Smith, Illinois Sisters Ruth (Ed) Shiver, Carla (Carl) Donahoo, Shirley Smith, Barbara (Jim) Stanley, and Mary (Ed) Cupp Owensboro, KY; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; special friend Debbie Age; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a host of friends and former students.

Veneda was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Oscar and Myrtle Smith, son David, husband William A. McDonald; brothers Layman, Arthur, Lt. Col. Justus, and Jimmy D. Smith; sisters Jackie Pierce and Bernice Shartzer and Daughter-in-law Patricia A. McDonald

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Dermitt funeral home in Caneyville and from 9:00 am until time of service on Sunday. The service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Sunday January 17, 2010 at the funeral home, Rev. Robert McDonald officiating. Burial in Fairview cemetery, Leitchfield.

A Memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in Anderson at New Horizons United Methodist Church, Pastor, Karen Powell officiating.
