Vernessa Gayle Drake, age 67, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (February 20, 2023) at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on September 23, 1955 in Jefferson County, KY, the daughter of the late Vernell and Sallie Mae Hardin Fentress.

She was a teacher and an avid reader who enjoyed collecting pink depression glass, jewelry, dolls and playing Pokemon Go. She was a member of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Robinson (Bobby) of  Millwood, KY, Chris Drake of Leitchfield, Salina Lindsey (Josh); seven grandchildren, Skylar Drake (Alyson), Cassie Garland (Will), Zackery Robinson, Jessica Robinson, Chloe Tate (Dillon), Taylor Murphy (Timothy), and Elizabeth Lindsey; two great-grandchildren, Eli & Gracie Garland; three brothers, Gary Fentress (Chrissy), Lannie Fentress (Penny), & Stacy Fentress. Several nieces and nephews, and her beloved Yorkie Little Bits also survive.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Drake; three brothers, Steve, Herbert & Roger Fentress and a sister, Louise Higgs.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, (February 25, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Ricky Armstrong will be officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
