Vernon E. Meredith, age 81, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Tuesday, (April 30, 2024) at his residence.

He was born on November 28, 1942 in Grayson County, KY, the son of the late Lonard and Anna B. Cannon Meredith.

He retired from IMI Concrete working as a truck driver. He was also a farmer. Vernon enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising cattle. He loved to drive fast and seemed to have only one speed.  He enjoyed watching Price Is Right on television. His family and grandchildren meant a lot to him and he loved them all. He was loved by everyone and would help all his friends and neighbors in any way he could.  He was a past member of Teamsters Local #89 in Louisville and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Vernon was a member of Mt. Vernon Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his life companion, Sandy Coogle; children, Dana Fincher (Paul "Scooter"), Floyd Long (Theresa), Kathy Moore (Mike), and Joni Hines; step-children, Tommy Clark (Nicki), Peggy Rhodes (Pat), Mary Graybeal (Roger), Tim Bain, Belinda Walsh (Bob), Gary Coogle (Karen), and Gina Dupin (Rick): brothers and sisters, Mary Craig, Leva Milliner (Jim), Bill Meredith (Valarie), Murrell Meredith (Jill), Vicki Bleemel (Calvin); 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martina Meredith; brother, Charles Meredith; brother, Kenneth Ray Meredith (infant); brother-in-law Morris Craig, and nephew, Johnathan Smallwood.

Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, (May 4, 2024) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Murrell Meredith and Bro. JH Manion will be officiating. At the request of the family, cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of services.
