Obituary

Virgie Swift Williams, age 78, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (August 15, 2009) at her residence in Leitchfield.

She was born on March 27, 1931, in Grayson County, the daughter of Willie Clinton and Nola Lee (Fraims) Wilkins. She was a retired machine operator from Vermont American, and a member of the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church in Leitchfield.

She is survived by one son, Eddie Swift of Caneyville; two daughters, Pat Butler (Justus), and Rhonda Stratton both of Leitchfield; one step-daughter Debbie Dennison (Ricky) of Leitchfield; one step-son Wendall Basham (Freda) of McDaniels; two brothers, Nachel Wilkins of Louisville, and Thirstie Wilkins of Illinois; two sisters, Shirley Philpot and Aline Swift both of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great grand children, and eight step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Laymon Williams, two sons, Richard and Floyd Swift, two brothers, Herbert and Donald Wilkins, and one grandson, Jason Butler.

Funeral service will be at 1:00p.m. Tuesday (August 18, 2009) at the Broadway Missionary Baptist Church in Leitchfield, with burial to follow in the Sanders Cemetery. Bro. Verles Logsdon will be officiating. The Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be after 1:00p.m. Monday (August 17, 2009) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield, and after 9:00a.m. Tuesday until time of service, at the Broadway Missionary Church in Leitchfield.
