Virgil C. Mattingly III, age 63, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (October 15, 2016) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.
He was born on June 3, 1953, in Louisville, KY, the son of Virgil Mattingly, Jr. and the late Dorothy Owens Mattingly.
He enjoyed watching wrestling, riding his bicycle, playing BINGO, eating, U.K. basketball, and being with his family. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and attended church in Louisville when he was young.
He is survived by his father, Virgil Mattingly, Jr. of Meade County, KY; two sisters, Joyce Crothers (Charlie) of Louisville, and Betty Mattingly of McDaniels; one brother, Thomas Mattingly of Meade County, KY; two nieces, Dorothy Hazelwood and Sue Russell, one nephew, Glenn Crothers; one great-nephew, Noah Russell, two great-nieces, Trisha Wells and Angel Rogers; one great-great-nephew, Kenneth Wells.
Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Mattingly, and infant twin brother and sister.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. (CST) Tuesday, (October 18, 2016) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Rev. Tony Bickett will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sanders Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. (CST) Tuesday until time of services.
