Virginia May Stewart Kiper, age 81, of Leitchfield, KY passed away (Friday, March 27, 2026) at her son’s home.
She was born on January 6, 1945 in Edmonson County, KY the daughter of the late Chester and Clara Baker Stewart. She was married to the late William Doren Kiper of Leitchfield, KY for 30 years.
Virginia was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed coloring and working word search puzzles. Virginia loved to sing and, while she was able, enjoyed singing with her gospel group at local nursing homes, assisted living facilities, etc. She was a member of Hanging Rock Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her two children, Carletta Priddy (Kevin) and Marty Kiper (Mindy); four grandchildren, Michaela Priddy, Zayne Priddy, Garrett Priddy, and Branden Decker; sister, Ruby Harris of Leitchfield; brother, Fonzo Stewart (Betty) of Roundhill; sister in-laws Cynthia Stewart of Roundhill, Rebecca McClary of Indianapolis, and Faye Spencer of Indianapolis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Doren Kiper; brothers, James Arthur Stewart, Lonzo Stewart, and Louis Harlan Stewart; sister Ethel Johnson; sister in-law Judy Stewart; and brother in-law Paul Harris.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m.Tuesday, (April 7, 2025) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Damon Lasley Jr. will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hanging Rock Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.
