William (Bill) D. Nichols, age 78, of Clarkson, KY, passed away in his sleep at his home on Thursday, December 15, 2016.
Bill was retired from Phillip Morris, was an Army Veteran, and was an active member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for 31 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and training hunting beagle hounds. He loved spoiling his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Millman and Ollie Mae Johnson Nichols; four sisters, Annie, Mary, Lillie, and Evelyn; five brothers, Harvey, James, Roy, Robert, and George; one great-grandchild, Gavin Wayne Langley.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lucille (Coogle) Nichols; one daughter, Elaine Dean (Harold); two sons, Layman D. Nichols (Genine), and David J. Nichols (Pat); two sisters, Clara Fox, and Ruby Peters; nine grandchildren, Robyn Kipper (Paul), Rhonda Roof (Kenny), Michelle Gray (Tim), Stephen Sarver (Tonya), Amber E. Nichols, Gabrielle D. Nichols, Elizabeth, Wesley, and Brian Dean; thirteen great-grandchildren, Dalton Kipper, BJ Perkins, Johnathan Woosley, Benjamin Perkins, Evah Kipper, William Kipper, Devin Woosley, Stephen Sarver, Jayden Sarver, Scarlett Costello, Eli Nichols, Carly Costello, and Sophia Dean; and a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (December 17, 2016) at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkson. Bro. Charles Larry Bell will be officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, and from 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church until time of services.
