William L. Goldsmith, age 84, of Caneyville, KY, passed away Monday (June 23, 2008) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on May 7, 1924 in Louisville, KY, the son of Cecil and Mary Pearl (Cox) Goldsmith. He was a member of American Legion Kentucky 0200, KY Corps of Long Riflemen, Wilderness Range of LaGrange, KY, Ohio Gun Club and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Prairie AD15 seven years during World War II, owner of Bill's Muzzle Loader Gun Shop in Louisville and retired inspector at General Electric.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edith L. Goldsmith and one daughter Jacqueline S.(John D.) Minton, two sisters, Dorothy L. Lewis of Louisville, and Mary Rose Fisher of Texas, three grandsons, eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Ivy Marie Kirk and brother Thomas H. Goldsmith.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M. Thursday (June 26, 2008) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Burial is in the Goldsmith Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of service.
