William Carley Scott, age 77, a resident of Leitchfield, KY for fifteen years, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.
He was born on July 13, 1932, in Flemingsburg, KY, the son of John D. and Iolene Davenport Scott. He was formerly employed at IBM in Lexington, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of KY, and retired from Vermont American Corporation 1990. He graduated from Flemingsburg High School, and was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #2 of Paris, KY, and a member of the Kosair Shriners. He enjoyed the U.K. Wildcats, golfing, water skiing, and home cooking. The family feels they would need an entire page to describe how wonderful, witty, and caring their father/husband was, and simply state that he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Boone Scott of Leitchfield; two sons, Stephen C. Scott (Darci) of Louisville, and Dr. C. Jeff Scott (Nancy) of St. Petersburg, Florida; six grandchildren, Sarah, Catie, Hunter, Will, Emily, and Drew Scott; four brothers, George Scott of Independence, KY, James and Marion Day Scott both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jack Scott of Ocala Florida; several nieces and nephews; and a host of loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Wanda Cleveland, Merilyn Searcy, and Mary C. Scott; four brothers, John Scott, Jr., Robert A. Scott, Jesse Scott, and Kenny Scott.
Cremation was chosen, and a memorial service will be Friday March 26, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. CDT at the Centre on Main, in Leitchfield and an additional memorial service will be in Flemingsburg, KY at the Wallingford Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. EDT. The Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield is in charge of arrangements.
