William Gordon Sturgeon, age 71, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (January 31, 2021) at Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

He was born on December 30, 1949 in Ammons, KY, the son of the late William M. and Mildred E. Brown Sturgeon.

He retired from Southern States Cooperative after 33 years as a manager. He worked as a machinist at MTD and also worked at Leitchfield Transfer for several years.  Gordon enjoyed cars, Hot Rods and NASCAR. He was also a farmer and worked hard his whole life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #81. He was a member of the New Life Assembly of God.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lampton Sturgeon of Leitchfield; daughters, Missy Mudd of Leitchfield and Sami McCarty (Ben) of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Savannah and Addy Mudd, Liam, Hadley, and Tinsley McCarty; sisters, Betty Sturgeon (Joe) of Owensboro, Linda Whitworth of Hardinsburg, Margie Ammons of McQuady, Doris Dupin (Chris Decker) of Elizabethtown, Diane Mercer (Randal) of Leitchfield, Pat Freeman of Mt. Washington, and Billie Sue Hodges of Vine Grove; one brother, Wayne Sturgeon (Susie) of Springfield; and brother-in-law, Eddie Lampton (Kelly) of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Lee Sturgeon, brother-in-law, Ronnie Embrey, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lawrence and Katherine Lampton.

Private funeral services will be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Tony Redmon will be officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Knob Cemetery.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic and to avoid any risks, the family requests a walk-through visitation to be held at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Sunday February 7, 2021. A private funeral service will be held with the family members only.
